TANZANITE

The crystals of zoisite occur in various colors, including brown, pink, yellow, blue, and green; many crystals are trichroic. Careful heating at about 700F degrees will turn most of these crystals a uniform deep violet-blue color. Tiffany & Co. actually gave this stone the trade name tanzanite. Tanzanite has a hardness of 6. The material is only found in Tanzania.
